Arena League 'B' Finals

For the first time in its history Windsor Swimming Club competed at the National Arena League finals last weekend in Ponds Forge, Sheffield.

In a highly competitive field of ten clubs from across the country Windsor finished seventh, just three points off of sixth place.

The strengths of Windsor's squad of almost fifty swimmers were tested across all age groups and events, starting with the Women's 200m Medley, in which Katie Ambridge notched the first of a string of terrific individual swims by finishing with a time of 2.20.9 and giving the club its first victory.

During the relay events Windsor's squad of 9/11 years boys, Max Hoogers, Harvey Karavis, Nimath Ukkash, and Matthew Burton punctuated an undefeated season by placing second in the 200m Freestyle with a total time of 2.01.7.
Equally, the girls 15 years 200m Freestyle relay team of Rebecca Dutfield, Lily Glover, Lucy Campbell, and Florence Claringbold placed second with a terrific time of 1.52.1.

In the individual events Lucy Campbell showed her form by winning the 15 years 100m Backstroke with a time of 1.06.6, while her teammate Lily Glover won the 100m Butterfly in a time of 1.03.9, bettering the opposition by over a second and catapulting the team's points tally into the top three.

Similarly, Katie Ambridge continued her streak by dominating the Women's 100m Butterfly and finishing with a fantastic time for this stage of the season: 1.01.6.

Another round of relay events concluded the meet, and Windsor's male and female squadron teams placed third and fourth respectively in the 6x50 Freestyle to bring the meet to an exciting close.

Doubtless the club will look not only to qualify again for next year's final, but also to improve on what was a great meet and an awesome experience.  - Robert Iddiols
