Bracknell Masters Meet Report 2013
Windsor’s Senior and Masters had an evening of racing on Saturday at the annual Bracknell Masters Open submitting a small team of 10 :- Matt Bromley, Beth Ellisson Perrett, Sasha Forster, Matt Gale, Celeste Lindeque, John Munday, Ian Potter, Steven Weir and Robyn Weldon.
Now in its 18th year, the Bracknell Masters Open is firmly established in the Masters swimming calendar and enabled our swimmers who for some have not raced for many years to get back into competitive swimming and a perfect meet to introduce those who were racing for the first time.
John Munday gained two PB's claiming Gold in the 200 IM and Bronze in the 200 Freestyle whilst Sasha Forster took Gold in the 50 Fly in their respective age groups. Matt B, Robyn and Steven swam PB's in the 100m Freestyle and most notably Steven's 68, a 3 second PB with no tumble turns!
All swimmers agree that the relays are the extra fun side to competing and this was no exception with four relays one after the other. First up were the Ladies in the Medley who unfortunately were DQ'd. The lads in the 120+ Medley took 4th place just outside 3rd to Bracknell whilst the Mens 160+ Medley team finished 7th in a very competitive heat.
The final event of the evening was the squadron consisting of 8 swimmers, always popular and exciting and no exception this year. Windsor were in the first heat with Matt G providing a reasonable lead and despite falling back Celeste bought us back into the race on the 7th Leg handing over to Ian on the final leg holding 7th place.
54 clubs took part with Windsor having its best Top Club placing at this event finishing 22nd with the team competing evening session only!
Next year's date is already set and we hope to submit an even bigger team on the 1st March 2014.
