Medal Haul at Rushmoor Open Masters

Saturday night Windsor's Senior and Masters headed to Aldershot for an evening of racing at the Rushmoor Open Masters long course meet.

L-R Celeste Lindeque, Sian Pratley, Sasha Forster, Simon O'Horo, Stefan Wuestner (hiding), JH, Andy Ferris and Ciaran McVeigh

Up first were JH, Stefan, Ciaran and Andy in the Men's 100 freestyle. JH took gold in the 18 to 24 age group, Stefan and Ciaran claimed gold and silver in the 25 to 29 respectively and Andy took silver in the 35 to 39 and this was just the start for Windsor.

Celeste was up next in the 100 backstroke with competition from Bracknell's Amy Vaal. Celeste came through 2 seconds ahead of second place. Not one to shy away at his first competition in 10 years Ciaran was also up in the 100 back taking gold.

JH took to the blocks next in the 100 butterfly though the effects of the night before were starting to show – but he held in there to take yet another gold.

The 200 free saw Stefan take Gold even with a "very lazy "finish.

Windsor Master's breaststroker Simon was up for his first event of the evening steaming ahead of second place by 4 seconds to take gold.

Next up in the 50 Free we had Sasha taking Silver and Sian who was racing for the first time ever! Sian gained a 3 second PB and just missed out on bronze.

The men's 50 free had a bit of inside competition going on within the heat with close times of JH - 27.21, Simon - 27.82 and Ciaran - 27.93. JH took gold in his age group, Simon and Ciaran took gold and silver respectively in the 25 to 29 age group.

Celeste and Ciaran were both victorious in the 50 back, Celeste went on to gain a silver in the 50 fly.

JH still with a bad head went on to win the 50 Fly!

Last up we had 3 mixed freestyle relays which proved challenging as they were taking place in the same heat and we had 5 boys and 3 girls! With 2 swims for some and pinching a swimmer it was draining but great fun and we took the three top spots.

All in all a good night for Windsor with 12 Gold's, 5 Silver's and a significant PB from a first timer.

The next meet in the Senior Masters Schedule is the South East Regionals - Spectrum, Guildford on 5th October 2013.
