Membership & Fees
The club membership fee is payable each year, 1/3 of the cost charged with each term's course fee. Besides being a member of Windsor Swimming Club, every swimmer and volunteer also needs to hold membership of the ASA, and so annually in addition to your fee you will be charged the cost of ASA membership, providing insurance coverage for swimming–related activities under the ASA's general policy. This includes Civil Liability, Employers Liability and Personal Accident Cover. The membership fee also provides a contribution to the clubs administration costs.
Forms can be downloaded from this website, and must be returned with the appropriate fee to the ASA Membership Secretary (WSC) or placed in the club's pigeonhole at Windsor Leisure Centre, where they are collected on a weekly basis. It is your responsibility to ensure your ASA membership is kept up-to-date; remember swimmers, you will not be allowed to compete without it!
There are three categories of ASA membership:
- Category 1 (green form) – for members who are learning to swim and who do not compete in any discipline in open competition
- Category 2 (yellow form) – for members who compete in any discipline in open competitions
- Category 3 (green form) – for members who are non-swimmers, including all volunteer helpers, club office holders and officials.
- Medical - all members must also complete the Medical Information & Consent form
Under ASA rules and the Windsor Swimming Club Constitution only club members who have also paid an ASA fee are eligible to vote at the club AGM or other Special General Meetings. In addition to pool hire and coaching / teaching costs, at present the Club also covers various other costs from the Membership Fee, including pool hire for Arena League, Thames Valley Junior League and Novice Galas, and the cost of training courses for Teachers and Officials.
Course fees cover the costs of pool hire and teaching or coaching fees for each squad, and are notified towards the end of each term for the following term. Course fees, and the relevant portion of the membership fee, must be paid in full by the start of each term, otherwise you will not be allowed to swim.
There are some additional costs that you will need to pay as a competitive swimmer with WSC. All Meets (swimming competitions) charge entry fees for each event you enter. These have to be paid to the host club at the time of entry, and you will need to give your entry fees to the Meet Entries Coordinator along with your entry form. For away meets you will be responsible for your own travel and accommodation costs, although for some events the club will provide a subsidised coach if a large enough number of swimmers are travelling.
