Milton Keynes Junior League Winners

On Saturday 12th September, Windsor's best young swimmers headed off to Aylesbury to face off 5 very fast swim clubs in the final round of the Milton Keynes Junior League.

The swimmers started the evening as they intended to continue with Rosie Woolger, Emily Miller, Margot Hoogers and Caoimhe McGee seeing off the competition in our first relay, but the 9 year old teams were not going to be outdone, with both the boys and the girls teams ensuring they hammered their competition and bringing home more precious points for us!

Further stand-out swims in the evening included 9 year olds Katie Ford in the 25Fs, Hayam Ukkash in the 25 Brst and Sasha Rycroft in the 25Fly, each showing real promise for the future. James Murphy, Lucy Hopkins, and Eliot Desforges all also put in strong performances bringing home more points for the Windsor team in their individual events.

As we moved on to the final set of relays for the evening, the Windsor swimmers continued to race fast bringing home a further 4 wins for the team, and showcasing their brilliant takeovers! The final event of the evening was the cannon relay; 8 swimmers – all determined to win the most exciting race of the night.

Sasha Rycroft was the first Windsor swimmer in the water, showing some great underwater work and getting us off to a strong start; Hayam Ukkash took over maintaining our position, followed by Lucy Hopkins and Damir Bajohr also putting in solid swims, before handing over Matilda O'Dea who after a brilliant takeover got us back to the front of the pack. James Murphy was up next, building our lead even further before passing onto Tash Holroyd who kept us at the front, and finally Elliot Desforges widened the gap even further ensuring that it was a triumphant finish!

When the points at the end of the evening were announced, no-one was too sure which team had been victorious.

And the final two positions. It was between us and Wycombe . . . and the winners were . . . Windsor!!! With a phenomenal 39 points!

Well done to all swimmers who raced for us, and a big thanks to all the coaches, officials and parents who have helped us over the last 3 rounds of the league. A particular thanks also goes to Poppy Woolger, who has served us our Team captain for the entire league and was a brilliant help.
