Regional Championships 2014

Windsor's youth swimmers swam at the South East Regional championships held in Crawley and Guildford over the Bank Holiday weekend. Windsor had 18 individual swimmers take part.

Windsor had some great individual and team performances throughout the weekend.

Starting on the individuals:

  • Lily Glover took the gold double in the 17+ 50m & 100m Butterfly
  • Lily also gained two personal best times in the 50m & 100m Freestyle
  • Becky Dutfield also gained the gold medal in the 800m freestyle in the 15/16 year age group
  • Becky also picked up silver in the 400m freestyle and a bronze in the 200 m freestyle.
  • Team mate Lucy Campbell picked up gold in the 17+ 200m Backstroke.
  • For the boys Albert Karavis gained a silver medal in the 15-16 age 400 IM with a NQT and two Bronzes in the 200m backstroke and the 400m freestyle.
  • Cameron Moffat gained a bronze in the 17+ age 200m freestyle just missing out on his national time.

Other solid performances with best times came from; Rami Elias, Libby Sammel, Crispin Imani, Alex Farrell, Yosuke Legard, Harvey Karavis, Ben Goldfinch, Kai F Brennan, Cassey Pratley, Max Hoogers and Nicole Ryan.

The teams had a great weekend with some exciting racing.

  • The boys 4 x 100 free finished 2nd in the Region.
  • The girls 4 x 200 free also finished 2nd in the region.

We shall know shortly if the teams have gained national qualification soon.

Again well done to all the athletes thanks to the parents for supporting the team over the weekend.

Trophy triumph for Windsor Swimming Club at county championships

WSC 2014 County ChampionsWindsor Swimming Club (WSC) moved from strength to strength over the four days of the Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire County Championships. In the end Windsor's energised and focussed young swimmers brought back home for the third time the coveted Dockery Trophy for the overall Best Girls' performance in any club in the Championship having won it for two consecutive years in 2011 and 12. For the first time in the Club's 105 year history, the Boys also brought home the equivalent Ellen Trophy showing the depth and breadth of talent at Windsor.

TVJL Final Round

Last night, a group of our young swimmers travelled through heavy traffic, to Reading to compete in the "A" Final of the Thames Valley Junior League.

Our swimmers all aged 12 or under were going to face stiff opposition having previously finished 4th in round 1 and 3rd in round 2 but they all swam with determination and showed great support for each other.

Matt Heathcock, Head Coach commented " There was some great team spirit and some great individual performances. The 9 year olds had a great night and looked strong throughout. Thank you once again to all the parents for their support."

Many of the swimmers will be taking part in the County Championships that start next weekend and we wish them all the very best.

TVJL Round 2 - 2014

Saturday evening saw many of our 9-12 year old swimmers competing in the second round of the Thames Valley Junior League at Bracknell Leisure Centre. They were up against some strong competition from many local clubs including Newbury and Bracknell and Wokingham.

Head Coach, Matt Heathcock commented that he was very pleased with the evening overall and that there was some fantastic team spirit poolside.

Windsor came 3rd at the end of the evening with an impressive 19 first places, 6 2nd places and 7 third places.

South East Winter Championships

A record breaking weekend for Windsor swimming club.

Windsor swimmers swam in the South East Winter championships in Portsmouth this weekend just gone.

There was 10 individual medals, two individual championship trophies a silver medal relay team and a championship winning team.

Lucy Campbell set two Scottish short course age group records in the 800m and 400m freestyle. Team mate Rami Elias set a new Sudanese national record in the 200m Backstroke.
Head coach Matt Heathcock said "I was very pleased with the swims over the weekend. Lots of personal best times set and the attitude of the athletes were great.
Looking forward to the arena league this weekend."

Windsor has the final round of the arena league this Saturday with the B team traveling to Havant and the A team at Maidenhead.

Inter County Masters 2013

This year's Inter-County Masters Championship was held simultaneously in 6 national regions with the South East Region event taking place in Horsham on the 17th November.

Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire were the defending champions for the region and Windsor had 5 swimmers representing the county - Ciaran McVeigh, JH Munday, John Munday, Becky O'Brien, Simon O'Horo.
