TVJL Round 2

The young Windsor team put in a fantastic performance at the 2nd round of the Thames Valley Junior League at the weekend, winning the round, and guaranteeing our place in the A final of the league!

After the relays, we sat in 2nd place behind a strong Maidenhead team, but our team pulled together, set their sights on the top spot, and chased them down, overtaking by just 1 point, as we went into the final freestyle relays. Maidenhead couldn't catch us though, as our swimmers demonstrated some brilliant takeovers and great finishes to hold the top spot. The final event, the squadron relay was the highlight of the evening, with an incredibly close finish between Reading, Maidenhead and Windsor, but it wasn't enough for them to overtake us on the final scores, and we took the top spot once again!

Particularly impressive performances came from Matilda O'Dea, who swam up 2 age groups, Tariq Ukkash, who annihilated the competition on his 50 Fly, and our 9 year old swimmers, some of whom were taking part in their first league event. Our Junior League Team Captains, Poppy Woolger and Eliot Desforges, selected for their great team spirit in the previous round, led the team cheering and did a great job of supporting and congratulating everyone after each swim.

Well done to everyone who took part, and thanks to Jaqui McGee and Kath Holroyd for their help on poolside, and Ukkash and Natasha Hill for being our officials.

Keep the 28th February free in your diaries ready for Round 3!
