After 2 very successful rounds of the Thames Valley Junior League, our young Windsor swimmers were heading into the final in a very strong position on Saturday evening, but we still knew that anything could happen, and that every team in the A Final had some excellent swimmers ready to chase us down!

After the warm-up our team sorted out their tattoos, designed by our very own Shay Race of County squad, and psyched themselves up for a night of fast racing!

We started off very strongly with some brilliant results in the first set of relays. In particular our 12 year old boys in their freestyle relay (Eliot Desforges, Tariq Ukkash, Asher Swidler and Luke Smith) who put in a great show to claim a very confident first place, which spurred on our 9 yr old boys to follow suit!

By the first set of results, we were sitting comfortably in 2nd place, but our swimmers were determined to go one better! More great swims followed by Luke Harper, Matilda O’Dea and Eliot Desforges all helping us maintain our position.

The team were buzzing, and we were delighted to have closed the gap on Bracknell by the time the second set of results were read out after event 35. Whilst still second, the top spot was now in sight, and we were determined to get it!

It all came down to the final relays . . .

First place finishes from our 9 year old girls and 10 year old boys against some very tough competition showed just how strong our young swimmers are, and these were backed up by impressive performances from our 9 year old boys and 10 year old girls, some of whom only had 2 minutes between races!

The final event of the evening was the squadron relay. McKenzie Hoogers was first in the water getting us a very strong start, followed by Aaron Wilks who held the position before passing onto Matilda O'Dea. By this point we were up at the front of the pack, very closely followed by Bracknell and Amersham determined to chase us down. James Murphy, Natasha Holroyd and Eliot Desforges all followed, holding our place at the front of the pack but Bracknell and Amersham were not going to give in easily. It all came down to Emily Miller and Tariq Ukkash! The swimmers, coachs and parents were all screaming and going wild, as the two put in brilliant performances and touched just ahead of the other teams to bring us home the first place!

After a tense wait, the final results were in!

And the 2015 Thames Valley Junior League Champions . . . . WINDSOR!!!!!

As our Team Captains, Poppy Woolger and Eliot Desforges went to collect the trophy, and held it high in the area for all to see, all the Windsor swimmers were going wild, as were the parents!!

I would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has helped us out over the course of the League. Kath Holroyd and Mummy McGee for being so patient with the coachs and very hyperactive swimmers when marshalling, and Ukkash, Natasha Hill, Karen Miller and Wim Hoogers for officiating for us.

We pulled together as a team, and showed all of the Thames Valley exactly how brilliant Windsor SC is!
